BOY'S WIN 2019 DISTRICTS FOR THEIR FOURTH STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP IN A ROW

In the short amount of time that Mourning High has been open, the Boy's Tennis Team's achievements have been plentiful, winning Districts almost every year!  Within the past 3 years alone, the Sharks have qualified for the FHSAA 3A State Team Championships twice, finishing tied for 4th (2015) and 8th (2014) respectively, have won two Regional Championships, a multitude of District Championships and as well, have been Regional and District Finalists.  On top of this, they have been GMAC Finalists twice (2014 and 2015), coming so close to winning the overall title on both occasions.

In the 2015-2016 season, the Sharks had a major breakthrough, as their #1 singles player, Tom Jaworski, won the FHSAA 3A State Tennis Overall Individual Singles Championships by defeating Batram Trail's Brandon Gutierrez 6-3, 0-6, 12-10 to not only win the State Title, but to also win Mourning High's first ever state championship in any sport.  An accomplishment that we're all proud of here at Alonzo & Tracy Mourning Senior High!  Jaworski was also named the 3A Florida High School Tennis Player of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association, was a three-time Miami Hearld Player of the Week, a two-time GMAC overall #1 singles champ and as well, was named to the Miami Herald's All-County First Team for a second time in a row!

In this same season, the Sharks #1 doubles team of Jaworski and Santiago Uribe were State Semi-Finalists in doubles at the FHSAA 3A State High School Championships, losing a tough match to Belen Jesuit 6-4, 7-5.

In 2017, the Sharks won the District Tournament with a sweep of all 7 divisions.  Unfortunately, the season ended at the Regional Semi-Finals with a 5-2 defeat over Doral Academy.  Happily enough though, Mourning High won its second ever State Championship title, as the duo of Tom Jaworski and Edward Luca defeated Viera High (Melbourne) 6-2, 6-3 in the Final to win the FHSAA 3A State Individual Overall Doubles Championships.  Tom happened to win his opening match in this same State Tournament, but lost his next round to the #2 seed in a tough match, ending his incredible run at Mourning High as a Two-Time State Tennis Champion!  (Boy's Roster)
